When a design-savvy client reaches out and asks you to refresh their home completely, the answer is always yes. For the Unscripted Residential Studio's latest endeavor, they teamed up with repeat clients to breathe life back into their Denver, Colorado, home. The client selected specific elements, like the stunning powder bath wall tile and the architectural lighting in the breakfast nook, providing our designers with a strong foundation to achieve the style they were looking for.
"Since this final phase was their main level, we knew we wanted to make it as special as the other spaces we've done with them before. This family values high-end design but also needs practicality for their busy lives with three little ones." – Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
The Main Event
Maintaining a sense of practicality while incorporating elevated design elements was extremely important to this client. And we are firm believers that you can have both! The neutral, modular sectional in the great room provides plenty of seating for this fun family of five to gather and enjoy the open floor plan of the main level, while also giving the room an air of sophistication.
"The overall design style we were after was comfortable modern with emphasis on pops of color through the unique art + accents within the space." – Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
All Eyes on Me
Project lead and Senior Designer Rebecca Moore wanted to create an impressionable moment in the breakfast nook, as it is one of the first things you see upon entering the house. Vadas Wood Working, customized wood panels for the accent wall, overlayed with a large-scale abstract painting in a muted palette adds textural layers to the design.
"We finished the wood accent wall in a dark charcoal stain with the intention of drawing attention to your eye right as you enter the house." – Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
A Taste of Art
In the dining room, Rebecca wanted to use the niche to layer in something abstract that would also give a slight nod to the beautiful mountains in Colorado.
"We chose a color palette that fed into the rest of the design and let our dear friend and artist, Genevieve Smith, turn it into this absolutely beautiful mural!" – Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
"We wanted to incorporate a sculptural piece of art in this room, and when we discovered this skull, we knew it was perfect for the space. It's hand carved by artisans that specialize in the Balinese craft of skull carving, and they source all the skulls from animals that have died from natural causes—a practice that follows the Balinese tradition of honoring their animals after death." – Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
The Perfect Powder
With its large scale and texture, the client's existing three-dimensional tile provided the perfect cornerstone for the design of the powder bath... but our designers knew another layer would create a statement the client would love.
"We chose a tailored grasscloth wallcovering from local Colorado-based design boutique, Wall Tawk, to add more texture and color while giving an overall handsome vibe to this little pocket of the house." — Rebecca Moore, Senior Designer, Residential
Down to The Details
Pops of color throughout the main level keep things feeling funky and curated, satisfying the artistic eye of the couple. From the carefully selected furnishings to the layered pillows and custom art, conversations are sure to spark around this fresh new design.
